The Fire Suppression Systems Association (FSSA) is a not-for-profit trade association with a unique blend of designer/installers, manufacturers and suppliers working together to share ideas and strategies for the benefit of the fire suppression systems industry. FSSA members are dedicated to the highest level of safety, reliability and effectiveness of special hazards fire suppression.  The mission of FSSA is to promote the use of, and be the leading recognized authority on, special hazard fire protection systems, employing existing and new technologies to safeguard people, high-value assets and the environment.

The National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors (NAFED) works to continuously improve the economic environment, business performance, and technical competence in the fire protection industry. NAFED is dedicated to raising the standards of the fire protection equipment industry through cooperative efforts with other distributors and manufacturers in the areas of education, legislation, and professional service for the benefit of the general public in all aspects of fire prevention and fire protection. 

The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) provides universally recognized certification for all individuals in engineering, engineering technology and related disciplines.  Founded in 1961, NICET  has issued more than 125,000 certifications to industry professionals.  NICET regularly brings together industry leaders and subject matter experts to identify industry needs and design and maintain technician certification programs that promote technical knowledge and skills.

The American Fire Sprinkler Association, (AFSA) is a non-profit, international association representing open shop fire sprinkler contractors, dedicated to the educational advancement of its members and promotion of the use of automatic fire sprinkler systems. AFSA was organized in 1981 to provide the open shop fire sprinkler contractor with training, consulting, communication, representation and many more services, all of which have expanded over its existence.Membership is open to contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, designers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction. Currently, AFSA represents approximately 750 companies and individuals in the United States and throughout the world.AFSA believes that the installation of fire sprinklers could save thousands of lives and billions of dollars.

The National Safety Council (NSC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy. NSC advances this mission by partnering with businesses, government agencies, elected officials and the public to make an impact where the most preventable injuries and deaths occur, in areas such as distracted driving, teen driving, workplace safety and beyond the workplace, particularly in and near our homes. 

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers was established in 1950 and incorporated as an independent organization in 1971. It is the professional society representing those practicing the field of fire protection engineering. The Society has over 5000 members globally and over 75 regional chapters.

The purpose of the Society is to advance the science and practice of fire protection engineering and its allied fields, to maintain a high ethical standard among its members and to foster fire protection engineering education.

The Society supports the development of the annual Professional Engineer licensing exam in fire protection and the grading of those exams under the auspices of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. Several volunteer committees and task groups work under the Society’s auspices on technical projects to further advance the state of the art.

The Society’s activities include a series of educational seminars and short courses, technical symposia and conferences, books and publications, designed to advance the state of the art of fire protection engineering and provide technical information to the fire protection community. The Society publishes a quarterly newsletter SFPE Today, a peer reviewed quarterly Journal, and a quarterly technical magazine Fire Protection Engineering.
